Teaching Artist

Join our growing team of passionate artists and playful educators as we work to bring families the quality arts & learning experiences they deserve.

Soaring Starts Teaching Artists work directly with the Founding Director on creating and implementing creative, arts-based lessons that teach academic concepts and lifelong learning skills.  Our Teaching Artists work with various ages from birth through 10 years old.  Teaching Artists must be flexible, communicative, and friendly as they lead and model activities & behavior.

Applicants with experience working in a formal education position (classroom instructor, private tutor, etc.) and/or an informal education position (nanny, babysitter, caregiver, etc.) are encouraged to apply.  Applicants with experience in teaching drama, music, visual arts, and/or dance preferred. Bilingual abilities, Early Childhood Certification(s), and/or experience working with a Positive Discipline or Conscious Discipline system a plus.

Teaching Artists are hired as freelancers on a per class basis,with many future opportunities for expansion and further positions as Soaring Starts grows.  We currently have positions in both our public programming and our private, customized programming for families, schools, and community organizations.  We have opportunities for both weekday hours and weekend hours, and Teaching Artists may work anywhere from 2-20 hours a week based on need, availability, and match.

Applicants should be comfortable working with young children ages 0-10, and be comfortable speaking clearly, concisely, and warmly with parents.  Proof of vaccination against COVID-19, mask-wearing, and regular handwashing is currently required for consideration for an in-person position. 

Compensation:
$15-20 per hour to train/assist
$35-45 per class hour to lead

Education Program Specialist

Soaring Starts is now seeking a compassionate, ambitious educator looking to grow their career both inside and outside of the classroom.  Education Program Specialists work directly with the Founding Director to conduct and oversee our arts-based educational programming for ages 0-10. This position has guaranteed teaching and admin hours, with tremendous opportunities for expansion and growth as we continue to grow as a company.

Applicants should have a clear passion for the very young, and be comfortable speaking clearly, concisely, and warmly to parents and community partners.  Applicants should have at least one year of teaching experience.  Experience in drama, music, visual arts, and/or dance preferred.  Applicants must also have proficiency in Google Workspace programs (Google Doc, Google Sheets, Gmail, etc) and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc).

  • Photo and/or video editing
  • Teaching neurodiverse populations
  • Teaching under a Positive Discipline and/or Conscious Discipline systems

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications

From hiring, our Education Program Specialist will work with anywhere from 3-7 classes with us per week, depending on need and match.  They will also have at least 5 guaranteed admin hours a week, with many future opportunities for hours expansion and further positions as Soaring Starts grows. Work hours are mainly weekday mornings, with the possibility of afternoon and weekend opportunities as well.

Compensation:
$20 per hour to train/assist
$40 per hour to lead teach
$20 per admin hour
